In this article, we will address the frequently asked question – when do you need Shopify Plus and what are the differences between it and traditional Shopify plans? If you haven’t had anything to do with Shopify yet, we’ll link you to our Shopify Playlist , where we went into detail about Shopify features on the one hand, but also took a look at Shopify Plus on the other. Briefly outlined for all newcomers – Shopify is one of the most used store systems. More than 1 million people rely on it, and as many as 7,000+ brands use Shopify Plus.
Reasons for this include the fact that Shopify is SaaS based – meaning it works in the cloud. You don’t have to know or deal with any hosting providers, within 5 minutes you are registered and can set up your store, which in turn is also very user-friendly and in principle requires no programming knowledge for simple stores. Sounds too good to be true? Then feel free to check out our “Shopify set up in 12 minutes” video, where we did just that. But what are the differences between Shopify Pro and Shopify Plus? If you look at this overview, it becomes clear that there is a hefty price difference to begin with.
Whether you pay $29 or $2,000 a month is a completely different matter. Therefore, we can say in advance, if you are just starting with Shopify and sell a few items, then Shopify Basic is perfectly sufficient for now. There is a certain revenue figure circulating in expert circles that should be taken annually, below which Shopify Plus is usually not worth it. This range goes from $800,000 – $1.5 million. That is, under $800,000 rather not consider. But what justifies these high monthly fees? On the one hand, we see Gymshark / Heinz and Steven Madden as the figurehead for now, but in the meantime, personalities such as Kylie Jenner, Victoria and David Beckham, as well as Adele also rely on the Shopify Premium alternative. One of the strongest features of Shopify Plus is the customizable checkout process.
This covers in the standard Shopify version namely all necessary steps, but always looks standard, as you can see here. If you compare this standard layout with the Adele Checkout, it becomes clear that it looks completely different. So you can completely customize your own checkout and optimize it based on UX. And we have already explained the importance of a flawless checkout area in our videos before. The worst thing that can happen to you is the cancellation of a purchase by a willing customer. Besides the aspect, B2B trade also plays an important role. For example, Shopify Plus supports the creation of a wholesale channel or in English Wholesale Channel, for which we have also made a separate video.
But even if you are only active in B2C trade, but want to manage many individual stores, Shopify Plus gives you the opportunity to manage any number of individual stores with an admin account. Furthermore, you can create as many employee accounts as you want, which would be limited to 15 accounts even in the Shopify Advance plan. For businesses in which signature consent is a required action, Shopify Plus offers an e-signature feature that makes it easy to do on your PC.
You also have more creative possibilities, you can customize your CI in any area like espw. the checkout and offer your customers an augmented reality shopping experience. You also pay no transaction fees and benefit from Shopify’s own workflow system Shopify Flow, which allows you to set up workflows without any programming knowledge, such as. that customers who pay more than a certain amount are automatically marked as VIP. So, in summary, Shopify Plus is for merchants who are already approaching the $800,000 annual revenue mark. The monthly subscription price of 2000$ has to be recouped. But what you will be offered is the possibility of customization in any area. From checkout to designs for product pages. You can create as many employee accounts as you like and, if desired, control and adjust several stores simultaneously from one account. If you are a B2B dealer, it is definitely worth taking a closer look. But before you take this step, I can only advise you to consult a Shopify partner before you start.
