Generate legal texts with the Händlerbund Shopify
Imprint/privacy policy for your online store
How to create legal texts for your Shopify store with the Händlerbund to make your online store legally compliant is explained in this Shopify tutorial. Get detailed insights into the Händlerbund member area and learn how legal text generation works.
Shopify legal text creation with the Händlerbund
In this video series we want to demonstrate how you can make your Shopify store legally compliant with the help of the Händlerbund.
We will show you where you have to store the legal texts in Shopify, how the price display has to look like, how the shopping cart, but also the order overview page has to be designed up to the newsletter which is compliant with data protection law. All this you will be able to watch in the playlist.
In this blog article, we want to go into more detail about legal text creation in the Händlerbund member area. In order to gain access to it, you first need to choose a membership package.
The tariffs
The range extends from the Basic to the Professional package.
These differ, for example. in the number of Internet sites that are safe from warning letters. Furthermore, it depends on whether you operate multilingual stores, whether you only want to generate legal texts or whether you are looking for individual legal advice. To find the most suitable package for you, go to the Membership Packages page and look at exactly what services are included with which package and either book the package for €8.90, €24.90, €49.90 or €99.90 per month. Once you have decided, the members area will look something like this.
Händlerbund Shopify legal texts - master data entry
Before that, your master data must be entered. You can edit them by clicking on your profile in the top right corner and going to Change Company Data.
Here you should enter the name of your company, the name of the managing director, as well as all other mandatory fields in this document. This is so important because this data will then be used by the legal text generator to create your individual legal texts.
When you are done with this you can then select the “Legal” section in the header and go to the legal texts. Here we have already deposited our Shopify test store. This can be created in the submenu Shop Overview by entering the store data and saving it. Here you can once again view the stored data and, if necessary, edit it with the button “Adjust store data“.
Create legal texts with the Händlerbund Shopify
In the area below you will see the documents to be edited. So the imprint, the right of withdrawal, the T&C’s, the payment and shipping information, the shipping cost generator and the privacy policy.
The whole thing is structured in such a way that we have to answer questions truthfully, which then lead to the legal text generator from the Händlerbund receiving the necessary information to be able to create the appropriate legal texts for you.
Once you have entered your individual information and data, click on “Save & Continue“, whereupon you will be informed that all links of the legal texts must be actively adopted. This means that they must be actively recognizable as links, but of course they must also be really callable. So it would not be sufficient if a link could only be recognized as such when the page visitor hovered over the text with the cursor, which is known as the mouseover effect. The link must be perfectly recognizable as a link even without hovering over it, which is to be represented by a color highlighting and/or the underlining of the text.
Download the legal texts
You are offered the possibility to integrate the legal texts also via interface. But we decide to use the PDF download.
Here, if our membership package allows, we can decide for the particular language, can choose a pre-formatting format and can decide for downloading as PDF, HTML or TXT file. If necessary, you can also take a look at the setting instructions for the online store to be on the safe side. However, as mentioned earlier, we will also go through the process of how you need to store legal texts in your online store using Shopify as an example in the next videos. So you are only one click away from your legal texts.
Store depth check for Unlimited and Professional customers
If you have opted for the Unlimited or Professional package, you are also entitled to a store depth check, which can be initiated by clicking on “Next”.
Before you can do this, however, you must confirm that your store URL is accessible, the legal texts you have just generated are included and your articles are set. If the three points are given, checkmarkt these and click on Order Shop Depth Check. So you have generated your legal texts at the Händlerbund and you already know how to initiate the in-depth inspection of your store.
However, we should not do that yet, because we have not inserted the legal texts yet. You can find out how this works in the next video.
