Shopify B2B

As your business grows and you also offer your own products, you may also want to sell to distributors and not just end customers. While these different customer groups can’t be easily mapped with Shopify, it is possible with apps.

Selling to dealers changes things, such as warranty terms – but it also changes your bottom line. Because retailers usually buy larger quantities than end customers, which is why you should think about a B2B store.

Shopify B2B store setup

Since Shopify is an American system, you’re more likely to find it here under the term “wholesale”. One good app is “Wholesale Hero.” With this you create different groups of customers to whom you can then give different discounts. You can create these discounts as you wish. Give discounts in percent, explicit prices, set minimum order quantities or values, etc.

Just minimum order values are common, you will have noticed that already. In the private customer sector, this is rather unusual and often has a dubious effect on the end customer. In the B2B sector, it’s quite different.

You can subdivide the business customers again, because over time you will find that some merchants buy much more than others. For this case, you can grant further discounts and thus retain the customers.

You can also share certain product groups with merchants only, so that end customers can’t see them. Seasonal products, for example, are available much sooner for retailers to prepare well.

Furthermore, you can offer other payment methods and also enable tax-free purchases in the EU by providing the VAT ID. To really do everything right here, we as a Shopify agency are happy to advise you. Especially for legal issues, we know the right people to contact so that there is no rude awakening at some point. Changes to the right of withdrawal and adapted terms and conditions are the classic cases where it can quickly become expensive.

Shopify B2B and ERP systems

To stay on top of things, you should connect an ERP system to Shopify. The backend is not bad, but with a real system designed for it, you can work much more efficiently.

Through this connection, you can, for example, better plan your warehouse as your business grows, speed up shipping by automatically printing shipping labels, and more easily process returns.

Orders are always kept up to date, shipping costs can be maintained in the ERP system and there is only ever one data master. So if you’re already working with one of the following ERP systems, your employees won’t even have to get used to them to benefit from more power.

Simply fill your entire Shopify store with the products from your inventory management system.

JTL-Wawi can be connected via the appropriate JTL-Connector. With it you have a free, established merchandise management and a very good store combined.

The large ERP system Xentral can also be easily connected to Shopify. Use centralized customer management and sales support in Xentral. Especially in B2B sales, good customer support is worth its weight in gold. Therefore, take advantage of the interaction of these two strong partners.
