We’re moving forward in our playlist “How to make your online store legally compliant“. In this article we will focus on the shopping cart. There are a few things to keep in mind here as well. This is because both the actual shipping costs and the VAT must be displayed. The VAT is displayed automatically on Shopify, whereas we need to make a few changes for the shipping costs. In Shopify, these can only be visualized as flat-rate shipping costs in a roundabout way, which we will show you in a moment. At this point, however, it should be said that although “plus shipping costs” is automatically displayed, this is not sufficient to make your Shopify store legally compliant.

Therefore, let’s fix that by going into our Shopify backend. To do this, we go to Edit Themes, Actions, and Language to finally go to the Cart tab. In our case, Cart stands for shopping cart, which is why we are in the right place. Here we scroll down to the text field “Taxes included and shipping policy html”. But make sure that you adjust exactly this. Because there are other options above that sound similar. We have now here the possibility to deposit own data to the all-inclusive forwarding expenses, which we will do exemplarily now once.
