Receive Shopify payouts - How to do it

In this article we turn to a more pleasant topic, if not the favorite topic of all online retailers. After all, who doesn’t like to be paid off.
This is exactly what we want to deal with today specifically for the Shopify store system – How do you get paid? So how and especially how fast does the money load on your account?

Shopify payouts option 1

But now to the payouts. With Shopify, it depends on which payment providers you use. Option 1 would be Shopify Payments. What it is and how to set it up, by the way, we’ve linked here. What this method offers you or your customers is the possibility to pay by credit card, instant bank transfer or purchase on account. In order to receive the payout, you need to deposit a bank account. If you have not set anything else, all payments will be automatically transferred to your bank account and the transaction fee will be automatically retained by Shopify.

Shopify payouts option 2

Option 2 would then be the providers PayPal and Amazon Pay. Here, the money is not transferred to your bank account, but is deposited in your PayPal or Apple Pay account minus the transaction fees of the provider. From here it can then be used for purchases or manually transferred to your bank account.

How long does it take?

But how long does that take now?
If nothing else is set, Shopify transfers money on a daily basis, which means it can take 1-3 business days for the money to reach your account.
However, you can also create a payout schedule so that the payouts are made on a daily, weekly or monthly basis instead of daily. This can make sense if your bank charges per transaction. You can set the plan in the settings, under “Payments” and “Manage”, by scrolling down further and selecting your desired interval in the “Payout Plan” section.

Cashout attempt failed - What now?

So now we know where our money goes, what you have to do for it, which is nothing and how long it takes. But what if a withdrawal attempt has failed? Should this be the case, you will be informed in the Shopify backend, as well as via email. In most cases, your linked bank account is not created correctly. So check again all given data for correctness. You now have the option to repeat the payout process directly by clicking on “Repeat payout” in the admin area. But you can also just wait after the change. Because Shopify will try again after 72 hours to make the withdrawal.
