Create new Instagram location

This tutorial explains how you can create a new location on Instagram. In fact, if you want to add a place to your Instagram Story that doesn’t exist yet, this video will help you out.

Have you ever wanted to add a location to an Instagram post that when you search for it, it can’t be found? Maybe you even tried to add it on Instagram, but didn’t find the function to do so. That’s because you can’t add new places directly on Instagram.
You can only add locations on Instagram via a detour, and for this you need the Facebook app. Because Instagram belongs to Facebook, Instagram accesses the Facebook database for locations. For this reason, you can add the locations on Facebook, which will also be displayed on Instagram.

To add a new location to the database

To do this, first open the Facebook app. Once there, press Create new post. Next, press Mark location. By the way, to create a new location, you need to enable location services for the Facebook app. Now type the name of the location and press Search. Now, Facebook may still suggest locations that don’t match the location you entered. In this case, scroll all the way down, because there you will find the item “add” and click on it. Now a new window will open where you can enter the name of your location and optionally the address and the city. On the map you will now select the location you are currently on. If you are currently at the location you want to create, then you don’t need to change anything here. However, if you are in a different place at the moment, you can change it. To do this, you need to move the map, because the location icon cannot be moved, only the map. Use one finger to move the map and two fingers to zoom. When you have found the location, press Save and now Save Custom Location. Since you don’t want to create a post, simply cancel the Facebook post afterwards by clicking the x and then Discard. It may take some time before your location is in the database, but sooner or later it will show up.
