Facebook Live Audio Rooms

What can the new Clubhouse competitor do?

The new Facebook Live Audio Rooms feature, joins the audio apps alongside Clubhouse and Twitter Spaces. We’ll explain exactly what Live Audio Rooms is, who it will be available for, and how to use it. All that in this Facebook tutorial.

Facebook Live Audio Rooms - What is it?

Facebook now also has its own feature, which was also heavily inspired by Clubhouse. It was first tested in the USA and launched there in June 2021. The new feature is called Live Audio Rooms and is now also available here since mid-October 2021. Android users will have to wait a little longer, because the new feature is currently only available in the iOS version of the Facebook app.

General info about Facebook Live Audio Rooms

However, Facebook stated that they are currently working on an Android and desktop version as well, which should follow shortly. Live Audio Rooms are a kind of podcasts that can be followed live and also allow interactions. Up to 50 people can participate. There are closed and open groups, where visitors can also enter. You can find the live audio rooms under events. You can sign up for the Talk and will be reminded when the room opens.

Who can actively use the feature?

For now, the new feature can only be used by public figures and Facebook groups. All public figures and creators worldwide can use the new Live Audio Rooms. Facebook itself speaks of a great, positive response in this area. Live Audio Rooms can be launched within Facebook groups to drive engagement and strengthen the community. Facebook is currently still working on adding the new audio feature: In your blog post they wrote:
“Our goal is for all public figures, groups, creators and other partners to be able to set up a Live Audio Room. Our audio journey has just begun!”

So you will be able to see it

A comparison with the U.S. shows that the new feature is still in its infancy in Germany. There, they’ve already taken it further by creating a whole separate area for Live Audio Rooms. Via Facebook Watch, users can access the new audio section through a tab. In this section, users should get a wide range of audio formats. These include podcasts, audio rooms and various audio creators. If the new feature is well received here, it could be expanded in a similar way in Germany.
Facebook is currently working hard to make your platform more attractive to users again. Whether the feature will prevail against Clubhouse and Twitter, however, remains to be seen.
