In this video, we introduce you to the Instagram Preview Cards that Instagram and Twitter are rolling out again starting now. The new display feature, through which an Instagram post is displayed in a tweet, could be a step toward closer collaboration between Twitter and Instagram, as the popular feature finally returns. In a tweet, Instagram announced that Twitter Card Previews will be rolled out starting today.
Share Instagram links on Twitter
When an Instagram link is shared in a tweet, the new feature allows you to see a small preview of the post and the caption from it. This feature was longed back by many users for a long time, as it was available on Twitter until 2012. Almost ten years ago, Instagram removed the feature for a reason that is still unknown today. As a result, many users stopped sharing their Instagram post on Twitter, because without the preview cards, only a link from Instagram was shown in the tweet, where you couldn’t see any content. Thus, without the crossposting feature, it no longer made sense for users to share content from Instagram via Twitter.

But now that the feature is finally returning, many users will also share their Instagram posts on Twitter again, giving your content more visibility. Crossposting on Instagram and Twitter is something that brings some benefits for many users. There could also be more features coming from the two platforms in the future, as the preview cards are not the first feature that hints at collaboration between the two platforms. In June 2021, Instagram introduced a feature that allows tweets to be shared as stickers in Instagram Story. So far, however, the sticker does not redirect to the original tweet. However, the link sticker could now improve this feature. Twitter is also waiting for this, by the way, as Twitter’s product lead has already written in a tweet.
