New Instagram carousel post feature

Delete individual images from the carousel

Now, using the new Instagram Carousel Post feature, you can delete individual images from the carousel and no longer have to repost it with one less image. Furthermore, the new Rage Shake function was introduced. You can find out what that is in the video.

New Instagram carousel post feature - What was the issue before?

In this article, we’ll introduce you to two very helpful new Instagram features that Adam Mosseri, the Head of Instagram recently introduced in person in a video. Finally, Instagram adds an editing feature for carousel posts. Previously, if you posted multiple pictures on Instagram as one carousel, you had to delete the whole slideshow again if you wanted to remove even one photo from it after the fact. For years, users have been complaining that carousel posts are so complicated. Now Instagram is finally responding and rolling out a new feature. Finally, individual photos can also be deleted from a carousel after the fact.

New Instagram carousel post feature - How to delete a picture from the carousel

To delete a photo from a carousel, first press the three dots above the post. Now select edit here and go to the photo you want to delete. In the upper left corner you will now see the new trash icon. If you press on it, the photo can be deleted from the carousel. The delete feature for carousel posts is only available for iOS at the moment, but is expected to be rolled out for Android soon.

Replace images does not work yet

Unfortunately, you cannot replace the deleted images yet. That means, if you have posted a wrong picture in the picture row of a carousel post, you can only remove it and not exchange it with the correct picture. To replace it completely, the whole post must still be deleted and recreated. Maybe Instagram will add this feature in the near future.

What is the shaking function?

The second function Mosseri introduces is a shaking function. Users have to shake their smartphones when Instagram doesn’t work as it should. That is, if Stories don’t load, music doesn’t play, or the feed doesn’t load and it just annoys you, users should shake their phone. Shaking opens a window with the help of which you can report a problem. One should then be able to explain exactly what is not working at the moment. Someone from Instagram will then look at your problem and try to help you. That’s how they want to improve Instagram even more. This feature has launched in the U.S. and will likely be rolled out globally over time.
