“Out of stock” option for eBay merchants
The online marketplace eBay has integrated a function called “Out of stock ” for “Valid until revoked “ offers. This feature brings some advantages for the merchants. The “Out of stock” option can be found in the Seller Cockpit Pro overview if you scroll down a bit and click on “Settings”. It can be activated directly in the seller settings and provides merchants with some advantages when selling. If the quantity of an offer drops to zero, the offer disappears from the search results, but remains active. As soon as the retailer has items in stock again and raises the quantity, the offer is automatically displayed in the search results.
Number of sold items and interested customers are preserved
This saves the merchant from having to re-post the item. In addition, the sales history of the offer remains stored – including the number of items sold and the number of interested customers. This will give you a better position in eBay search results. In addition, the item number of the offer remains. So the link to the offer does not expire. This has a positive effect on the visibility on Google and the spread of the offer on the net.
Does the eBay function have any disadvantages?
It all sounds very positive, but does this function also come with disadvantages?
Costs may still be incurred, so be prepared for that.
For ‘Valid Until Revoked’ listings, eBay charges a listing fee every 30 days. However, if the offer had a zero unit count for the entire 30-day period, the merchant is entitled to a credit for the offer fee and a credit for any additional option fees charged for that period. However, once a listing has zero units for three consecutive billing periods, it is automatically terminated by eBay. The “out of stock” option can therefore give you eBay SEO advantages.
