But in this blog article we don’t want to have a fundamental discussion, but we want to do our part to provide clarity on how companies master the home office everyday life.A well-known solution for this is the video conferencing software Zoom.To be able to use this you must first register.

Registration and login

To do this, go to the zoom.us website and you have the option of registering completely new and free of charge or, for example, registering as a new user. sign in using your Google or Facebook account. For registration you need to enter your contact information and provide an e-mail and password for further login.
At this point we logged in with our Google account. You will now see the administration interface in the app. Your upcoming, but also previous meetings, your private rooms and meeting templates.
Your private room has a meeting ID, a password and a URL that you can send to other participants. In addition, meetings can be managed via Google, Outlook or Yahoo calendar.
If you want to make changes, go to Edit.

Zoom Tutorial - The tariffs and pricing models

Otherwise, you can copy your invitation here and send it to your colleagues, for example. send to us. Which brings us to the topic of participation by several people. Zoom can be used free of charge within certain limits. Up to 100 participants can be hosted, 40 minutes can be budgeted per meeting or unlimited communication with only 2 participants.
If your company exceeds the 100 head mark, then you can also benefit from the other tariffs and thus, for example, you can use the new tariffs. hold meetings for an unlimited period of time. In addition to the classic subscriptions, there are also add-ons with which you can, for example. a Basic plan, but for less money than the PRO plan would cost, you could stream in the social medias via Zoom.
This allows you to put together your own perfect tariff using a construction kit.

Create or schedule a meeting

Now that we have registered, we are ready to download the client. For this we scroll down to the footer and download the client. Now that this has been opened, we can either create a new meeting from the app or from our browser. We’ll give the app a chance. We can either schedule a meeting for the future with Schedule or go right into a new meeting and invite new people in that meeting. What we will do once now. So here we are now in the middle of a Zoom meeting. If we had released the camera, we would also be able to see ourselves directly in the center in large format. If we only wanted to have an audio conversation, we can click Stop Video and would only see our profile picture. If we want to turn off both, we can also mute the microphone. As the host of this meeting, you can of course also determine what the other participants are allowed to do and what they are not allowed to do in the Security tab. So you can e.g. disable chat, prohibit turning on the camera, or even disable murmuring so that everyone is muted for now and only allowed to talk when enabled.

Zoom Tutorial - The functions within the video conference

Of course, having a monologue is bullshit, so you can invite other participants there by, for example. sent the event link by mail. If you prefer to use WhatsApp, you could, for example. also copy the link at the bottom left and then send it via WhatsApp. Furthermore, you could also view the respective participants here if they have accepted your invitation and then also unmute them in order to give them the floor. In the chat window, messages can be exchanged, either addressed to everyone or only to certain people. This can come in handy when your negotiating partners are in the meeting along with your employees and you want to communicate strategic thoughts only to the employees.
The whole thing can then be done not only as a text message, but for example. also as a picture. These media files can then be added in this window. If you want to record the meeting to make it available for employees who are sick, you can do that with the Record button. As a nice gimmick, you can also send reactions expressing your approval, amazement or enthusiasm. However, what is an important function here and not just a nice gimmick is the “Raise Hand” function, which can be compared to raising your hand in school.

Share screen in Zoom Meeting

With 50 participants, there would be an immense background noise, so it would be wise to mute everyone and then give them the floor at the appropriate time. Last but not least, you can share not only your camera image, but also your screen. To do this, click “Share Screen”, select one of your screens, or you can even share your phone via AirPlay or Cable to explain certain apps to your coworkers. Last but not least, you can also record something during the meeting with the WhiteBoard function. All in all, everything you need for a successful meeting.

Conclusion about Zoom video conferencing software

A simple solution to simplify the workday in the home office, because with Zoom you can see everything you need to coordinate with colleagues or co-workers.
