New feature reminds you to take a break
Actually, apps like TikTok, YouTube or Instagram want users to spend as much time as possible in the applications. It should be clear to everyone that this does not necessarily contribute to mental health. Now, however, Instagram is testing Take a Break, a feature that could do the opposite: Users are reminded to take a break after a time they set.
Instagram Take a Break - The new break reminder feature
Instagram has rolled out a new feature, called Take a Break. This new feature is designed to help users make decisions about how they want to spend their time. When users scroll through Instagram for a certain amount of time, they get a reminder on your screen that they should take a break. If you turn on the new Take a Break feature, it will remind users either after 10 minutes, after 20 minutes, or after 30 minutes that the selected maximum amount of time they wanted to spend in the app has expired and prompt them to take a break.
When will the function be available?
At the same time, the current reminder offers the possibility to set up another reminder. Besides, Instagram suggests some suggestions with which users can spend their time instead. The new Take a Break feature is an additional feature to the Daily Reminder Limit feature.” The new feature is already available in the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. It is scheduled to be launched worldwide by the beginning of 2022.
How to use the Instagram Take a Break feature

This notifies you when you have exceeded your selected maximum time in the app. To turn on the feature, open the Instagram app and go to your Instagram profile. Tap on the three lines in the upper right corner and now on your activity. Now select the Time tab at the top. From here you will see the “Set up a daily reminder” function and you can activate it and select the desired daily duration.
