Instagram 2022 priorities: Head of Instagram explains what’s planned for 2022

In this article, we’ll show you which four areas Instagram will focus on in the new year 2022. At the beginning of the year, it’s typical to talk about New Year’s resolutions and goals. Instagram also shared its plans now in a short video that Adam Mosseri, the Head of Instagram shared. With the words: “We have to rethink what Instagram is” the Head of Instagram starts his video message and gives an outlook on the coming year.

Video remains the top priority for Instagram. So Mosseri explains again, “We are no longer just a “photo sharing app. Video was already at the top of Instagram’s list last year, and now Instagram wants to double its focus in this area. Reels should continue to be advanced and remain the number one feature for Instagram. For us as users, this means a successful year 2022 on Instagram: Less photos, more reels!

Communication is everything

The second area Instagram wants to focus on is messaging. People connect primarily through online messaging these days. Instagram therefore wants to become THE place where people connect with their friends.

The third area is to be transparency. Users should understand how Instagram works and get more behind-the-scenes insights. Mosseri did not share any concrete plans on the topic, but many users repeatedly report uncertainties regarding the algorithm, for example. Here, Instagram wants to provide more security and become more open.

4. creator
The fourth area that Instagram will focus on in 2022 will be Creators. Instagram wants to help you earn a living on Instagram.
