An attractive collage is the perfect way to do good storytelling on Instagram and ultimately embodies everything the app stands for and what its original unique selling point was: compact storytelling in image form and a way to share important thoughts and content, with others. It doesn’t matter if you just want to create a slideshow of your vacation or tell another cohesive story, collage offers almost endless creative possibilities and you should definitely experiment with it.
But how should you use a collage? If you want it to be more than just several pictures from Malle or the last party night, for example, you can choose a concept or idea that is too complex to communicate in just one picture and try to communicate and spread it out in an understandable and accessible way. Before we take you by the hand and introduce you to the practical know-how, we’ll show you a few more ideas on how to make your collages as beautiful as possible.
Ideas for collages and multiple images on Instagram
Pick at least 5 images that fit together thematically and arrange them in a way that makes chronological sense. Different formats and perspectives offer variety to the eye, and editing and cropping a beloved image can add spice. Text and image can be designed to form a unit and offer your followers a story with real added value.
Another popular concept is to enrich text-based content with images and present it in collage form. This form of content is much more readily consumed than mere walls of text and, in addition to mere storytelling, can entertain, impart knowledge, or provoke thought. Multiple images in Instagram Story - 3 methods presented
There are three ways to put multiple images in the story. Namely, you can upload the images one by one, create a collage directly in the Story feature, or use an external app to create a collage. We’ll show you all three options. You can upload multiple pictures in a row by clicking on the “plus symbol” in the upper right corner and selecting the Story option by swiping or tapping to the right. Swipe up to get to your photo gallery and select an image. Tap “Your Story” at the bottom left.

After a short moment the image is uploaded. To upload multiple images, simply repeat this process.If you want to create a collage directly through Instagram, go back to the Plus and Story. You can create a solid color background for the collage by taking any photo and tapping Paint at the top of the bar. Selects a color and taps the screen for a longer moment until the background changes color. Now tap on the sticker icon at the top of the bar and on “Add sticker”. You will be directed to your photo gallery. If you tap on “Capture” in the upper left corner, you also get the option to search for an image in another folder. Select an image and then tap Add Sticker again. Repeat the process until you have all the pictures in the story, where you just have to arrange them. You do this by moving the image with one finger and dragging the image smaller or larger with two fingers.

To move one image in front of another, simply tap the image once and it will move to the foreground. On one tap the images have rounded corners and on the second tap they become angular. Of course, you can still add writing and tap “Your Story” to publish. It is also possible to select a photo or video as the background of the collage. The very first thing to do is to add a picture or a video to the story that you want to use as a background, just like we did at the beginning of the video, and then tap Add Sticker Again. Without external apps you can quickly and easily create beautiful story collages.
