Twitter Dislikes

New downvote function for irrelevant content

The“Twitter Dislikes” keep us busy in this episode. What the new downvote function is all about, whether they are displayed publicly and who they serve in the end, you can find out here. Also, Twitter is switching to the manual feed as far as updating is concerned. You can see exactly what this looks like in this Twitter tutorial.

Twitter Dislikes - Why was the downvote feature introduced?

On social media platforms, users always have the opportunity to rate content through likes. Users can also mark tweets with a “like” on Twitter. A Dislike button, such as on YouTube, did not yet exist on Twitter. The platform now wants to change that for the comments section. The so-called Reply Downvotes are to be used by users when certain tweets are irrelevant to them. The number of downvotes is not displayed publicly, but it is only about Twitter being able to rank more relevant content better.

The Auto Refresh feature is abolished

Even if the downvotes are not displayed, it is of course still noticeable when a comment appears further and further down. In addition to that, there is another change on Twitter, as the platform is doing away with the Auto Refresh feature. With this, they are finally responding to the long-standing complaints of users, because every user who scrolls through his feed a little longer in the desktop version probably knows the problem. The Twitter feed regularly updates itself quite automatically, which can cause tweets to simply disappear while you are reading them.

Twitter Dislikes - Next to this the most hated feature is abolished

For this reason, Twitter is now switching to a feed that users can manually refresh by clicking the Home button in the navigation bar. From now on, you can decide for yourself when the feed should be reloaded. Since the Auto Refresh feature is the most hated Twitter feature for many users, they will be especially happy about these changes.
