3 methods to see Facebook Stories unseen

3 methods to see unseen Facebook Stories are available in this Facebook tutorial. In this video we demonstrate how you can view the Facebook Story anonymously.

View Facebook Story anonymously

Through the acquisition of many companies, Facebook has changed both as a site and as a company. With Facebook Stories, similar to Snapchat, you can post clips and images that remain visible for 24 hours and are viewable both on the site and in Messenger. Many users find the fact that Stories show who is consuming your content a thorn in the side. Although Facebook obviously knows what content we click on and consume, this data is not shared with you. For example, when you post a video to your Timeline, you’ll be notified of likes, comments, and reactions, but you won’t be told who’s watching it. With Stories, however, the user is informed about everyone who consumes the content.

Watch Facebook Story anonymously: The feature of the competition

The main selling point of Facebook competitor Snapchat, was to be able to post short-form content that automatically deletes itself. Since part of Facebook’s business model is to either copy the competition’s features or acquire it (honestly, usually both), this feature was added in a flash. This factor spills over to all other areas of the platform and ensures that Facebook’s anonymity, which is always underestimated anyway, disappears more and more. Anonymous browsing is becoming less and less possible.

Facebook Stories and why they are important

Since Facebook is the platform with the most active users, but is losing ground among young users, Mark Zuckerberg’s team is trying to keep it as attractive as possible. One of the reasons why Facebook caught on is the factor that you could view other people’s content anonymously. The story function represents a break here, because the “storyteller” has a complete view of who is looking at his content. Malicious tongues say that the “Story” feature has done Facebook more harm than good: Given the muted reaction the new feature has caused, some wonder what vision Facebook has of its future. Since the focus will be entirely on VR projects in the future due to the renaming to “Meta”, they are venturing more experiments on the oldest platform. Many liked the idea of stalking others. Who hasn’t looked up old classmates and exes? Imagine if these people saw you going to their profile? For many, all the charm of browsing is gone and they are looking for a solution to remain anonymous.

Facebook Story: Stay anonymous and view Stories

It seems that the newsfeed and other content will remain the same. But with a company like Facebook, you can never be sure how long this statement will keep its relevance. Because the planned acquisition of Snapchat didn’t go the way Mr. Zuckerberg wanted, he is still doing everything he can to oust the company today. He integrated Snapchat’s features into all of “Meta’s” products, whether users wanted it or not. Because Stories drive more traffic than text content, they’re at the top of Facebook or Instagram feeds. The acceleration of this development creates an ever-increasing demand for video and image content, which is given its framework by story functions.

Dive in and watch Facebook Story anonymously

The reasons for choosing anonymity on Facebook are likely to be many and varied. It may be that you don’t want Facebook to sell your data to third parties, or you don’t want to expose yourself too much. Some of you may not even particularly like social media, but you may need to use Facebook for work or personal reasons. If you want to use an anonymous account, you can avoid the requirement to use a real name by using a realistic pseudonym. However, too strange a name will provoke a deletion, so you should be careful at this point. The terms of use officially prohibit pseudonyms, but this is not of interest to you. The user should be recognizable according to the specifications, but you can get around this by using a blurry or a child’s picture. The date of birth is a required field, otherwise you can ignore the other information.

View Facebook Story anonymously - The offline method

The first method is the “offline method”. This method usually works best because you can watch a complete story to the end using this method. We recommend that you always try this method first, as it is also the easiest. However, it only works with the Facebook app on your smartphone. First, open the Facebook app and scroll through all the stories so they all show up fully loaded. Afterwards, wait a short moment to make sure that everyone is fully loaded and then exit the app briefly. Now open the settings on your phone and go into flight mode. Next, you open the app again and since you are now offline but the Stories were loaded before, you can now view all Stories without being seen. It is important that you do not leave flight mode while the app is still open on your device. Therefore, the app closes properly once and only deactivates the flight mode again afterwards. It can happen with this method that a story is not completely loaded, then just repeat the steps again until all stories you want to see are completely loaded.

View Facebook Story anonymously using the swipe method

If that doesn’t work, you can try another method. Namely, the swipe method. This method actually always works, but unlike the offline method, it doesn’t let you view the entire story, only the first page. Often, however, that is enough. To use this method, open the Facebook Story that is directly in front of the Story you want to see anonymously and hold down the screen with a pressed finger. Now very carefully slide the last page of the story to the left, but be careful not to let go. You can now see a preview of the next story.
With your finger still firmly on the screen, slide the preview back and click “X” before you’re sent on to the next story. Even if this doesn’t allow you to watch a complete story, it’s pretty easy to get a small glimpse without being seen.

The deactivation method

The third method is the disable method. However, if you want to use this method, you will not be able to use your account for 24 hours. Therefore, this method is not very recommendable, but we will show it to you anyway. First, log in to Facebook and watch all the stories you want to see, just like you normally would. If you have seen everything, you need to deactivate your Facebook account as soon as possible. If you do, you will not be displayed among those who have seen the story. If you are quick, you will remain completely anonymous. However, it is also possible that at the very moment you are watching the story, the list will be checked and you will be exposed. After the story is gone for a maximum of 24 hours, you can reactivate your Facebook account.

How to deactivate your Facebook profile

To disable your Facebook account for a short time, go to Settings and Privacy. Then go to Settings. Now it depends on what kind of Facebook you use. On the desktop version click on “Manage account” and in the area click on “Deactivate account“. In the mobile app, under “your Facebook information” you’ll find the “account ownership and settings” section. Here you can deactivate your account.

General anonymity on Facebook

Edit the notification area and set all settings to “only me” or “friends”. If you click the button next to your profile picture that says “Privacy”, you can set everything up to your liking. Also in the settings on the left below, you will find settings that you can go through. Now test your configurations: Visit the Chronicle, there you will see an icon that looks like an eye under the “Edit Profile” section. Here you can see how your profile looks to your visitors. If you like this sight, you know that you are on the right track, don’t forget that you should use an email account that you don’t use otherwise.
