Create Gambio article

Create and optimize new articles for your Gambio store

Create and optimize new articles in Gambio – that’s the goal of this blog article.
In this Gambio Screencast Tutorial we will show you where to find your products in the Gambio administration area, which fields to fill in and how to optimize it.

To create a simple article

Since we had created our new category in the last Gambio episode, we now want to fill it with an article, of course.
So here I will show you how to create a new product in the Gambio store backend. To do this, we go to Articles in the left column as before and can now select the “simple article” next to the “Create” button. The first thing that catches our eye again is the article master data.

Create Gambio article: The article master data

The article status is set to active by default, so it will be displayed in the store frontend as well. The next 5 fields are basically self-explanatory, you can enter an item number, determine the quantity in stock of this item, enter the weight, determine the delivery status – i.e. how long this item will take in shipping to get to the customer and the item manufacturer, if this was also created before.
VPE stands for packaging unit of the basic price, accordingly, the VPE value can be derived. Meant by the VPE value is, how many units of the basic unit (e.g. pieces, liters, kilograms) are sold with the item. So a VPE entry could be “piece” and the VPE value could be 6 for a “6 carrier water”. To really play this out in the frontend, activate the “Display VPE” switch.

From the unit of measure to sitemap settings

The unit of measure must also have been created previously, which we did once in this case, and will then be displayed next to the quantity entry field on the item detail page. This can then be e.g. also be specified in “pieces”.
In addition, a minimum order quantity and a specification of the possible quantity scale can be set. The EAN can be entered here and finally the shipping costs can be determined.
On the right side of the item master data we also have again our toggle switches with which certain information can be shown or hidden, such as the weight, the stock level or the publication date.
On the other hand, the inclusion in the sitemap can be confirmed or deactivated. If you decide to create the article as a pre-order article, the release date of imaginable articles can be entered below. Everything else should be self-explanatory or you are welcome to check out or read about it again in our Gambio category blog.

When creating Gambio articles make sure to choose the right article type

The extended configuration includes e.g. the definition of the HTML templates for the article detail page, the article attributes and the article attributes in the overview. For this purpose, the item type can be determined, specifying whether the item is a standard item, a download item, or a service; so that the customer can waive the right of withdrawal for downloads and services, if applicable. With the item price status you have the possibility to offer the item for sale and display the price or to offer the item for sale but disable the possibility to add it to the shopping cart, as the price will be communicated only upon request, or to display a price but disable the purchase. Afterwards, the package size can be determined and again the GX-Customizer set for individualization of products by customers can be included on the item detail page. The expiration date and the state are fields that are then used for example. can become relevant for the Google article export. The purchase of articles can also be restricted by making the purchase possible only from 18 years of age. Also, the brand, gender and age group for which the item is intended can be defined. Finally, just as with the categories, we can then enter the details – i.e. name of the item, description, tabs, short description and the order summary.

This is how the individual descriptions differ from each other

To be able to distinguish the descriptions from each other a short explanation. The item description is a detailed description that is played out on the item detail page. Tabs can be used to display additional information in the item detail page. The short description is displayed on the category and search results page, and then the order summary is displayed on the last page of the order process for the item. Otherwise, a manufacturer link can be added and the SEO-relevant data such as the meta title and meta description can be entered. For more info on this, our Gambio SEO blog can be consulted. The whole thing can then still be adopted for the English language.
Don’t forget to upload a picture of your article at the end. Again, make sure to hyphenate the file name and use the focus keyword, keep the file as small as possible, and fill in the alternate text in Gambio. The last field to be edited is the price options. So how much the item should cost in general in the set currency. Furthermore, price adjustments can be made for each individual customer group such as guest / new customer or dealer. Discounts can be entered, expressed as a percentage, and the tax rate used can be included. Save at the end and your new article has been created.
