When Reels also launched on Facebook, it became clear how much Meta was focusing on short videos to keep up with TikTok. In this video, we show you Meta’s plans to merge Instagram and Facebook Reels.

Reels on Facebook

For several months now, users have been able to create reels on Facebook. Until now, however, these could not be shared on Instagram, Reels’ original platform. Also from Instagram no reels could be shared on Facebook yet. The “Share to Facebook” option was tested some time ago, but has not been officially rolled out yet.

Via Twitter, social media expert Alessandro Paluzzi finally shared news on the topic. So he announced that Facebook is currently working on making Facebook Reels shareable on Instagram as well. This feature is longed for by many users, as it would be much easier for creators to share their reels on both platforms simultaneously. However, it is not yet known when Facebook will officially roll out the feature.

2022 will be the year of the reels

In general, however, from our perspective as a social media agency, we can say that 2022 will be the year of reels on both platforms. In fact, just recently Paluzzi shared another piece of news where you can see that Instagram is currently working on the possibility of pinning Reels in the Reels tab of a profile. Some of you may already know this feature from TikTok. With this possibility, creators could make their most successful reels more easily visible to profile visitors and thus convince them of their value. Currently, the reels are still in chronological order. The most recently posted reel is thus at the top of a profile’s feed.

Unfortunately, the feature hasn’t been rolled out yet, but since Instagram is currently also testing a similar pin feature for feed posts, it’s safe to assume that it will appear soon.
