Instagram has announced some new features for Safer Internet Day. With the help of these features, they want to optimize the security and operation of the app. The option to unlock locked accounts with the help of friends, for example, is particularly interesting. In this video, we’ll introduce you to the new Instagram updates that make it easier for users to manage their content and provide more security.
First update: An overview for your activities
To manage content and interaction in one place, there is now the “Your Activity” page. This page is now intended to provide an overview of content and interactions in addition to information about time spent and search history in the app. With the help of the update, users can now manage their content and interactions more easily, making it easier and faster to delete photos and videos in bulk, for example. However, if a user wants to remove content but not delete it completely, it can be archived here as well. Among other things, as mentioned, interactions such as comments, likes, and story responses can be managed here by sorting and filtering interactions by date to more easily search for past comments, likes, or story responses.
As always, unfortunately, it takes a little while for an update to be rolled out to all users. To check if you already have the new activities page, go to your profile and then to the menu by pressing on the dashes in the upper corner. If you already have the update, you will find the new features under “Your activity”.
Second update: The security checkup
Last summer, Instagram launched the option of a security checkup for accounts that have been hacked. To make Instagram more secure, this feature is now being rolled out to all users. To complete the security check, go to your profile and tap on the menu in the upper right corner, then tap on “Settings”, “Security” and on “Security check”.
Third update: Unlock account
In keeping with, security checkup, Instagram is working on the feature to unlock locked accounts with the help of a friend. Again and again the Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, got the question what users can do if their account was suspended. Now Instagram is testing the feature to confirm the identity to an account with the help of a friend on Instagram. In the process, two Instagram accounts must be selected, and they must confirm the user’s identity within the next 24 hours.
