How to create your online store
We’ll show you how to create and set up your Jimdo online store in this Jimdo tutorial for beginners. With this guide for beginners, step by step build your own online store. Feel free to watch our screencast or continue reading below the video.
Jimdo Online Shop Setup - The Online Shop Settings
Continue with our website builder, but also online store editor Jimdo.
Previously, we showed you how to register and set up your website. We are now at this point again and want to create our online store from it. For this purpose, there is also the dropdown menu for the store settings in the upper bar in the editor, in addition to the profile picture, the global design settings and the page menu. With the sub-item “Overview”, we can make general store settings, i.e. make necessary data about our person or the company, configure shipping and tax settings and set up our payment service providers. But we will come to that a little later. First of all, we want to create our first product.
Create your first product on Jimdo
To do this, you can directly add your own product image or continue without an image. Then a placeholder is inserted again. If you want to change this now, click on it and the already known bar will be displayed. That is, instead of the image, you can again insert a video. If you are still missing the product images or videos, feel free to browse the linked pages and make an appointment if needed.
We choose a stock image to illustrate for us. Now you can customize all visible text elements by clicking on them, just like on the start page. Already available by default is the brief description, product description, size and dimensions, product details and special features. However, you can expand your product details page even further by adding a block and, for example, a new product. insert a slider with reviews. There are no limits to your creativity. See what your competitors are doing and optimize that.
Jimdo Onlineshop setup - Create a category
Now take a look at our product overview by clicking on “Shop” and “All Products” in the top bar. There you should already see your first product, to which we will now add a second one. By the way, you can also adjust the price only when your store meets all the necessary criteria. To create a category, we go up to a product and see there the directory“Shop” and behind it directly the product. If we double-click there, we can add a category. This can then easily be done in exactly the same way for the other products. There you will directly see the already existing categories as a suggestion, which you only have to click on.
You have successfully created your products and categories.
But what must now be fulfilled to go live with the store?
The general store settings
For this we go to the general store overview. So again click on “Shop” in the top bar and then on “Overview”.
Products are available with us, the company profile must be filled out completely and you must connect your payment providers.

In addition, your shipping and tax settings should be set correctly. The correct VAT rate must be entered, the costs and delivery time of your shipment must be entered, etc.

Jimdo Online Store Setup - The Price Plans
At the end we see that we can upgrade our package. There are three different plans for online stores. Depending on which functions and volumes are most suitable for you, the appropriate plan can be chosen here. Starting with the Basic tariff, with which you can use all the basic store functions, for which you receive your own domain, an SSL certificate, premium support and do not have to pay any transaction fees. If the number of email forwards or the bandwidth is not enough for you, you can directly choose the Business or VIP plan.
