Mute Instagram – Instagram has introduced a feature that allows you to mute other users’ posts or stories without having to unfollow those accounts. Instagram gives users more freedom to personalize their feed with the Mute feature. The user can mute someone else’s entire content as well as just the stories or posts. However, mentions or the profile of the hidden user can still be viewed. The mute function can also be cancelled again – in neither case is the other person informed about this. Mute Instagram - The new function at a glance
In this video, we’ll show you how to hide users’ Instagram posts and Stories without unfollowing them. Sometimes you follow people on Instagram who constantly post something new and flood your home feed with their posts. Normally, users simply unfollow accounts they are annoyed by, but if you are personally acquainted or friends with the person and don’t want to be so radical right away, you can also mute the user’s posts and stories.
Content selection
Similar to Facebook’s Snooze feature, Instagram also has a mute option that stops stories or posts from appearing without unfollowing users or them noticing. Of course, muting a user can be undone at any time. If you want to mute a story, press on the story icon of the account in the story feed for a longer time until a new window opens. In this window, press the “Mute” option. Now another window opens with the choice between “Mute Story” or “Mute Posts and Stories”. If the latter option is selected, all feed posts of the account will also be muted for you in the future.
Mute Instagram - silence at the touch of a button
Muted stories now appear for you at the very end of your Story Feed and no longer play automatically. To mute feed posts from accounts, you can either go the story route, as mentioned earlier, or simply tap the subscribe button. In the window that opens, select “Mute” and the feed posts of the account will no longer appear.
Unmute
