New Instagram subscription feature - What's behind it?
Instagram is planning to introduce a new feature soon. With this, followers can subscribe to an account for a fee to get access to exclusive content. You probably already know this subscription model in a similar form from Only Fans or Patreon. Creators can make separate content available there for their followers and subscribers have the opportunity to support the creator in this way. Instagram plans to call this model “Fan Club”. Here there should be the possibility that creators can create exclusive stories that are only visible to their fan club. These stories should not be able to be screenshotted. The Fan Club Stories can also be saved in the Highlights, where they are of course only visible to members of the Fan Club.
Make special content available only to a selected community
In a similar form, the function to share Stories only with close friends has been available for quite some time. This feature was introduced by Instagram so that accounts with many followers can also share personal content from their private lives, only with people they also know personally. When using this feature, after creating the story, you have the choice to share it only with your close friends, i.e. users you have assigned to this category. Followers who belong to this group will recognize these stories by the green circle in the story feed instead of the usual red one. The new Fan Club function will work in a similar way. Stories will soon be able to be shared with Fan Club members only. However, there is still no information about the prices and the Creator’s earnings. So how much you will pay for a Fun Club Membership and what percentage Instagram will get of the Creator’s earnings is still unknown.
But how much can you earn with the new Instagram subscription feature?
Another question that is still open is whether this feature will be made available to every user of the app. Instagram has often held back new features in the past for users with only a few subscribers. The Swipe Up feature for Instagram Stories, for example, was only available to users with 10,000 or more subscribers. Whether this feature will be available to every user of the app or whether only certain users will get it remains to be seen. Many users react positively to this news. Creators and companies will soon have the opportunity to provide exclusive content for their community. The fan club function could save a lot of effort by sharing knowledge through simple mobile videos on Instagram.
