Hide WhatsApp profile picture - The overview
In this article we will show you a trick to hide your WhatsApp profile picture for certain contacts. WhatsApp is one of the most popular and well-known messengers in Germany. In order to add users to your contacts on WhatsApp, you only need to add the person’s phone number to your cell phone. For this very reason, sometimes you have people as WhatsApp contacts who are strangers or not so familiar to you. Just for this case, we will now show you a hack that allows you to hide your profile picture for certain contacts.
How can I hide my profile picture for certain contacts?
Unfortunately, WhatsApp does not have a direct setting for this case, but it still works via a detour:
1. To do this, first open the app and go to the settings and then to Account.
Next, tap Privacy, where you’ll find a selection of who can see your profile picture.
Under Profile Picture you can now choose from three options: Everyone, My Contacts, or Nobody.
If you have not yet saved the number of the person from whom you want to hide your profile picture, you can select “My contacts” here.
4. if you have already saved the person, you can hide the profile picture from them only if you delete the number from your phone. After deleting the contact, the chat will still remain in WhatsApp, so you can continue to write with the person.

Even though this is not a perfect solution, it is a roundabout way through which you can at least get back some privacy without blocking the person completely on WhatsApp. Also, the particular person only notices that they can no longer see your picture, but otherwise there is no difference. In the privacy settings you can now also choose whether the person can see when you were last online, whether they can read your info or whether they can see your status.

If you need the person’s number again in the future, you can save it again as a note or simply via the chat on WhatsApp. If it is a person with whom you no longer want to have anything to do, you can simply block them on WhatsApp. Blocked users will automatically not see the photo and other information. This is currently the only way to hide information like your profile picture from certain contacts on WhatsApp. WhatsApp does not currently offer its users an alternative.
