LinkedIn algorithm

6 tips to influence the algorithm in your favor

In this online store comparison 2021, we present the latest Shopware store system Shopware 6 on the one hand and compare it with the French PrestaShop. One exists in the cloud, the other does not. You can find out what other differences there are in this video.

Tip 1 : Post high quality content to influence the LinkedIn algorithm

Your content on LinkedIn should be interesting for your target group and offer added value. This can be content such as informative podcasts, videos or images. Links to further articles or to the latest news in your industry are also part of the articles that are not only informative, but additionally generate interaction. You can also interact with other users through polls, opinions, comments and direct questions in or about your posts.

Tip 2 : Provides comments

Make sure that users comment on your posts. Ask questions about this at the end of the post to stimulate conversation and discussion. LinkedIn values conversations as more relevant than Likes or sharing a post. So respond to comments and start conversations to increase the reach of your posts.

The LinkedIn algorithm does not like regularities

The algorithm favors irregularities. If you always post at the same time, the LinkedIn algorithm will rank your posts with less relevance. Therefore, avoid scheduled posts at the same time. In Germany, most users are active on social media between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. and between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Use these time periods and post sometimes in the morning and sometimes in the evening. Notice what times work well and then post within a time period to reach as many active users as possible.

Tip 4: Maximize reading time

How long users read a post is timed by LinkedIn. Clicking “Show more” on a longer post is also considered particularly positive by the algorithm. Therefore, use strong images or very interesting text beginnings so that users get a strong interest in your content. The longer they look at it, the better the algorithm ranks the post. To do this, it is important to know your target audience well in order to find out what you are using to generate a lot of interest.

Expand your network to have the LinkedIn algorithm on your side

If you have posted a post, the algorithm will first show it to some of your contacts. With 100 contacts, that’s about 20 users. If you have 1000 contacts, the post will be shown to about 200 users. So the reach increases the more contacts you have on LinkedIn. If your post is well received and gets a lot of reactions, the algorithm will show it to more contacts. The more contacts you have, the more interaction you get. So try to expand your network of contacts. Pay special attention to contacts from your industry. You can make contacts in LinkedIn groups, for example, if you participate in discussions. You can also find industry-relevant content via hashtags and start conversations about it.

Tip 6 : Hashtags

Hashtags allow your posts to be found thematically. Take advantage of this opportunity and use hashtags very specific to the topic of the post. LinkedIn recommends using only between 3 to 5 hashtags per post. Choose only the hashtags that fit best. If you would like to link an additional person or company in your post, you can do so using the @ function. As a result, the tagged people usually interact with the post and may even share it with your contacts.
