How to create products in your OnlineShop

How you can create an OXID eShop article and what there are for setting options, you will learn in this video. From the master data tab to the SEO tab, we’ll show you what to consider when creating it. So this is how you successfully add products to your online store.

Create OXID eShop articles - No categories without products

In the last episode we explained how to create categories for your OXID store. But you won’t get anything out of the best categories if they don’t contain any articles, so in this video we’ll go over how to create products and what to consider. How to create articles in OXID eShop

Now to our articles. How to get into the Oxid Admin area we already told you in the last episode.there we go again into the article management, but this time on “Articles”. Here again we find a division into the upper half with already existing articles and the lower half with the mask for new articles. We will now turn our attention to this. Similar to the categories, you can activate the article, which you should always do at the beginning, and also activate it but hide it. You can do this with these two hooks. The title is the name of your product.

The master data

Your item should also have a unique item number. This is displayed to the customer in the store in the detailed view of the item. The article is also searchable via this. How the article number must be structured is not prescribed. This depends on the number of articles or whether the article number is specified by an enterprise resource planning system, for example. A standardized product code can be stored here by means of EAN.

Specify supplier and manufacturer

Furthermore, a description would be important, which can then be seen in the item detail page. The search terms would only be relevant for the store or the store search. However, these are not adopted for Google. If you have already created manufacturers and suppliers in the master data, then these can be selected for the product. I think the price is self-explanatory. The alternative price is for certain groups of customers. This means that you can offer discounts or simply lower prices to regular customers. And also here deviating tax rates can be deposited.

Assign to a category

At the end, the article must still be assigned to a category. For this, let’s take the previously created category “Men’s shoes”. This is our product master data. Have we filled this stores off. Now you will see that you can also get into advanced tabs and define in detail dimensions, external URL’s the purchase price. It would be important to define a stock in the Stock tab. We will come to the attributes in one of the next videos. Then the issue is addressed in detail.

The same applies to the topics of cross-selling and variants. The ratings are still empty so far, but here would be the reviews incl. Rating will be displayed. In the end, we will have our SEO window as we already found it for the categories. So the category in the URL and the name that is in the title. Should this be fixed again, checkmark this field. The meta title of the product goes here and the meta description here.
At the end, do not forget to save. Then your article can end up looking like this in the frontend.
