Especially if you as a retailer have decided not only to sell on marketplaces like Amazon and eBay, but to offer your products with your own online store, one thing is very important, especially in the beginning – marketing. To push your store and show the world what great products you have in your assortment, social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook should not be ignored. Because if you don’t exist there nowadays, you’re wasting your potential and therefore won’t even be noticed by potential customers. That’s why we want to help you get started and introduce you to the 5 most important Instagram apps in this video.
The number 1 way to get started is to use an image editing app called Lightroom. You can use them both on desktop and mobile for Android and iOs. For one thing, it lets you make your images stand out more by increasing saturation or contrast, which can be an advantage with over 95 million posts on Instagram every day. For this purpose, you can save so-called LUT presets and use them again and again. In very simplified terms, a LUT is something like a filter which, for example. can raise certain colors or lower others, and in some cases also change color tones in the process. What this will definitely achieve is a unified feed and, in the broadest sense, a creation of your CI on Instagram.
Without the number 2, some of the eBakery videos would be, for example. not so convertible in the form. We are talking about Photoshop. I’m about to introduce you to an alternative to this, which may play more into the hands of inexperienced traders. With Photoshop, for example, you can Create thumbnails, as you know them from our YouTube channel, which then also find their way onto Instagram. The advantage is that you can change almost everything the way you want. Still, the skill level it takes to do this is very low once you’ve designed your basic setup. As just mentioned, there is also an alternative to this, which exists both as a website and as an app. With our number 3 Canva you can quickly and easily use other fonts on your smartphone than Instagram offers. You can use stock images, create quote images and thus create more engagement on Instagram by standing out from the crowd.
That sounds like a lot of work for someone who has a thousand other things to do as a trader. That’s why organization is everything. If you’re not yet at the point of hiring someone just for your social media channels, try to structure and organize yourself as best you can. One app that will help you with this is the Instagram authorized app Later. With it you can e.g. prepare your posts for the coming week on Sunday.
That means using Lightroom to bring your CI look into the images, using Photoshop to add the necessary text and give the whole thing a design. Then find a suitable caption, add hashtags and set the desired day and time using the Later app. Already you can concentrate on other things during the week.
Then, when you have initial analytics data in your Instagram Insights, you can see exactly when your Instagram community’s engagement is highest and coordinate with Later on the post timing in the future and easily implement it.
These 4 apps have now largely aimed to edit your feed. However, the Story function is also a powerful and frequently used tool in Instagram, as you can briefly and succinctly share current information with your community. But if you put yourself in the shoes of the standard Instagram user, he or she mostly uses Instagram casually on the train, during a break at work, in a café, and so on. In any case, there are enough situations in which we consume Instagram Stories without sound, because we don’t have headphones at hand and don’t want to annoy those around us. One app that ties into this is Clipomatic.
With this, the audio of your videos will be transcribed into writing. This means that the story visitor understands the content without having to listen to it, which leads to a significantly higher conversion, since people who would otherwise have swiped away can now follow your story while reading and thus consume your content for longer.
