The basis for the following is the article Availability in Variation Combinations. But let’s look at his case in practice.
Preparation – creating the articles in JTL-Wawi
First we need to create an article in JTL-Wawi with two variation combinations. Variation combination one is the color and variation combination two is the size. For both variation combinations, I left Radio as the display form and set the sorting to 1 for color and 2 for size, which also corresponds best to reality. So first the customer must choose the color and then the size. The whole thing will look like the screenshot below.
If the article ladies T-shirt is created so far it can be saved and then you create the variation combinations. This should look like the following screenshot.
JTL-Wawi has created 10 new children items. Next, the stock levels need to be posted for these 10 children’s items. I have assigned a stock level of 1 to 7 items and left the stock level at 0 for three items. In the screenshot below, I have marked the Variation Combinations area with the availability in red.

Now we can already do a web store comparison and see the result of the work.
The result in JTL Shop 3 in the screenshot above surprised me a bit. Since I know for a fact that the T-shirt is available in pink and in size XL, it should not be marked here with the note “sold out”. The moment I mark the color pink, the size XL is shown to me as available again, as can be seen nicely in the screenshot below.
Conclusion
In this case, it is necessary to weigh what is better. Display the availability of items only after a selection has been made in the variation combinations, or display it right at the beginning. In the current project, we have decided not to display variation items that are not available, but this could have fatal consequences in the case of such a result. I will keep you updated on this topic secured, as it will certainly keep me busy for a while.
