Learn how to spot fake followers and avoid falling for them in this Fake Influencer Check. With HypeAuditor you can analyze any Instagram data of a profile for authenticity. We have performed a practical example in this HypeAuditor tutorial.
In this article, we will show you a tool that you can use to expose fake influencers. For this purpose we use the HypeAuditor page. To get a small Instagram account report, you need to log in for free. However, you can only get the full report by subscribing monthly. However, we will now show you what you can learn from such a report using the example function of HypeAuditor.
We’ll just take Karokauer as an example. First we see the name of the account at the top and the category in this case Family. On the right side you can see the number of followers and the engagement rate. An engagement rate between 4 and 6 percent is very good on Instagram. A fake account with many fake followers would normally have a very low engagement rate, but it is possible to trick here as well. Therefore, the full report is very revealing of what kind of followers they really are.
Below you can see the rankings and in the boxes that are not unlocked now, as this is just a test example, the qualitative followers and authentic engagement numbers appear. Qualitative followers are followers who follow only a few users and thus see more of the profiles they follow. When these followers interact with the profile, i.e. like pictures, comment, etc., this forms the authentic engagement number. Below you will find the Audience Quality Score. The number shows you how good the quality of the target group is. This is formed by the quality of comments and the number of authentic interactions. Next, you’ll see where the followers are from, how old they are and what gender they are and if they are real. You can see not only what country the followers are from, but also what city they are from and what language they speak. Through artificial intelligence, it is possible to determine which followers are genuine and which seem strange. These are accounts that, for example, follow a lot of profiles but don’t post anything themselves, don’t have a picture, and the like.
The reachability and the quality of the target group is only good if most of the followers are also real followers who follow few accounts themselves. Here you will always see how this number looks like for similar accounts as a comparison. Besides the main category, you can also see in which other topics the target group is interested. For example, if you sell a beauty product, Karokauer would still be a good choice for beauty products as a family influencer. The growth rate shows anomalies. A sudden increase in followers may indicate purchased followers, for example. A good account should always have a linear increase. Don’t let that fool you, though, because there’s also the option of buying followers in a way that adds them over time.
To compare the account with other similar profiles, there is a graph that shows you how many similar accounts have which engagement. In the example, the profile performs very well, because there are few accounts that have more interactions. You can see by the spread of likes whether the many interactions perhaps only came from one-time purchased comments and likes or are well distributed. Next, you will be shown the ratio of likes and comments. If the ratio is not true at all, it indicates Fake Likes or Engagement Groups. If you’re interested in partnering with this influencer, you can now see the pricing for a post or story. Additionally, you will see the CPE. This is virtually the price of interaction. Ultimately, EMV tells you if a collaboration would be worth it, because Earned Media Value shows how much money it would normally cost you through paid social media advertising to reach the same audience. If this number is much higher than the price per post or story, then a cooperation is worthwhile.
You can see important numbers in the brand mention. Advertising performance shows you how many users interact with the profile when it is not advertising and how many respond to ads. In addition to the posts per week, you can also see how many posts of these contain advertising on average, which categories are advertised and how much advertising similar accounts mention. Finally, similar accounts will be suggested to you.
In summary, Hypeauditor is a very comprehensive tool and can help you find really good influencers very well and bust fake influencers quickly. Just try it out and write in the comments what experiences you have with it or what other tools you use.
