Wix vs Jimdo

Content management systems as homepage construction kit in comparison

Wix vs. Jimdo – the comparison of the two homepage builders editors and at the same time content management systems. In this CMS tutorial, we will take a closer look at both systems and explain for whom which system is better suited.

Wix vs. Jimdo - The comparison of two content management systems

As promised, today in this episode comes the second comparison of two content management systems – wix.com and Jimdo. Two modern homepage construction kit systems, which are also mostly used for exactly this purpose. If you are completely starting out and just want to have a web presence in the form of a homepage, without any big demands, then these two content management systems will probably make the short list.
Since you should always start presentations with something positive, I’ll do that right away. Because with both systems you don’t have to worry about hosting. Unlike e.g. Would be the case with WordPress and TYPO3. As with WordPress, no programming skills are needed. To get an idea of both systems, let’s take a brief dive into the systems.

Practical detail view of Jimdo

With Jimdo, you answer questions about your business, what you hope to get out of the site, what industry you’re in, and so on. Then, with the help of Jimdo Dolphin – an artificial intelligence – a sample homepage is built based on your answers. Once you have chosen one, you can edit your page in a super simple editor. You can choose which page you want to have edited directly from the header in the preview field itself. Whether it’s the home page, your achievements, or the “About Me” page. The good thing is, as I said, that you can work directly in the main field, which is probably the easiest and clearest method for beginners. That is, you go with the cursor on the field up which you want to have changed, write for example. your text there and can easily implement bolding, italics, linking, etc. If you want to change the layout completely, you can do that in the left column. So you have the possibility to choose from different media types like images, text, videos and music and create your website with the help of pre-designed building blocks.

Wix vs. Jimdo - wix.com offers more scope, but is also more complex as a result

With WIX, the whole thing looks very similar, although one or two things are different. At first glance, you can see a more extensive system. You can’t jump directly to the individual pages with the header, but here you get the possibility to manage the menus or to change the header itself. So if we want to jump to the “News” page, we have to go to the menu management and then we can select the desired page. Everything else, however, can then be selected and exchanged directly in the middle editing field. Only here, too, you have significantly more options available to you at first glance. You can not only change the image, but also choose a design, so whether the image bspw. should get a frame. You can also cropping the image in Wix itself, can put a filter over it, animate the overlay, also link the image, so deposit a link that is then called when you click on it. By the way, the artificial intelligence that is called“Jimdo Dolphins” atJimdo also exists at Wix. However, the number of templates then differs a little. About 500 at Wix and 100 at Jimdo.

Wix vs. Jimdo - The Conclusion

In summary, this means that you can reach your goal with both content management systems. In the end, the template that you like best will probably be the deciding factor. That is, take your time and browse through once, if you do not now want to resort to the A.I. of the systems. At the end, a short price comparison. First of all, both systems are free of charge. That means you can use both systems for free, fully and set up your site completely. Since both Jimdo and Wix are ad-supported, the free plan will have ads on the website. Furthermore, you can not store your own domain. This means that the site will run over a Wix or Jimdo subdomain. If that’s a no go for you, Wix.com plans start at 8€ monthly and Jimdo plans start at 5€.
